About Howard Cohen

Mr. Cohen received a full merit scholarship after high school to attend Wayne State University in Detroit. He graduated in 1984 with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice with distinction. Following undergrad, Howard attended Wayne State University Law School, and was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. In 1987 Howard graduated and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Wayne State.
After law school, Howard practiced law for 22 years in a nationally known firm based in Birmingham, MI, specializing in Admiralty/Jones Act litigation; Longshore and Defense Base Act litigation; Railroad/FELA litigation; Automobile accident litigation; and Workers Compensation.
In 2010, Howard moved to one of the most respected locally known firms in Michigan as a litigation attorney handling personal injuries including automobile accident cases, as well as premises liability and general negligence cases.
Howard has over 30 years of experience helping accident victims recover compensation after sustaining a serious injury. Howard understands how complex many injury cases can be, and he knows that many victims can have their lives turned upside down when injured by a careless or negligent person.
Howard joined Elia & Ponto in 2022. Howard is married with two children. Outside of work, Howard enjoys watching and participating in all types of sports; going out to dinner and to movies; and going on family vacations.
